Your Wedding: No Budget? No Problem.

While we all like to ogle over frothy, expensive weddings, few have the budget to cover every fantastical bridal whim. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from attending nearly forty weddings though, it’s that a big budget does not a better wedding make. I had the Best time at a wedding that I swear served Trader Joe’s appetizers, and the worst time at a wedding that clearly spent half a million dollars (for reals!). So please, if you have a tight budget or a real job and can’t afford the live turtledoves, or oversee the floral arrangements, I swear those details ultimately don’t matter. What does matter is having a great time with the ones that you love. (image below from SheFinds.com)

My suggestion is to assess what you really need and can’t live without (like music and a photographer). Then consider your friends and their talents. Perhaps you know someone who loves music and would be thrilled to make an iPod play-list for the night. Perhaps you know a photographer, or a baker, who could give you a generous discount as a wedding gift to you. You can also save money with online Save-the-Dates and RSVPs. Truly, there is no end to people’s creativity when it comes to saving money on the big day. Take this incredible DIY  affair that was featured on Style Me Pretty a few years ago. It’s so sweet you could cry, and OMG, the total budget came out to $2,000.00!!!

Seriously, read the story of that wedding: it’s Amazing. (photo by Sean Walker)
